This week we are looking at a new feature which allows users to create items, encounters, and locations and add them to the app’s database. This addition will eventually allow users to create unique app elements on their own, add them to the database, and then select and link them to a map tile. This allows for the creation of a single element that can be linked to multiple tiles. For example, if you wanted to make a specific encounter, say for instance goblins, you need only create and add the encounter to the database once. After that, you can select that encounter for as many tiles as you want. Essentially you could create an entire library of items, encounters, and specific locations that you could link to any map you create.
Interested in the RPG WorldBuilder app? A new post is up over at www.rpgworldbuilder.com which showcases how you can link locations, items, and encounters into your overworld map.
With the updating of the Tome of Awesome and its artwork and errata, I have decided to included a couple of extra additions...
1. To keep in line with the upcoming Creature Volumes (2 and 3), Creatures Vol. 1 has additional chapters featuring silhouette size comparisons of all the entries in the volume along with a list of each entry and any significant loot drops they might have.
2. The Core Rules will have an extra mini section featuring guidelines for building non-human PCs in FAL using creature listings from the various volumes. A preliminary pdf of these rules has been provided here...
Also, here is a revised picture of Skulrox bound within the Bitterstone. According to FAL lore, Skulrox attempted to deceive his siblings (the Children of the Cosmic Wanderer) so that he might have total control over the Materiosphere. The Children of the Cosmic Wanderer foiled his plan. Hom, the creator of the Galeopshere, pulled apart part of the fabric of Second Space in order to create the Bitterstone to which Skurox was bound at the center of the Abyssmalsphere.
The first image is the original piece, the second is the revised.
My latest Far Away Land story is on Patreon... Ora Darkleaf: Chapter 4. A vengeful elf confronts a necromancer and wakes up a little man.
We are $1 shy of our $20 per post goal. As soon as we reach the $20 mark, I begin recording and posting audio versions of all Patreon stories!
So, we are officially announcing a project we have been working on for the last couple months, the RPG WorldBuilder App for Android.
We have finally gotten to the point where we can begin posting development updates concerning the app and its progress. So what is it? Originally RPG WorldBuilder was a going to simply be a deck of Dungeon and World Architect Cards for your mobile device. However, once we got in and started messing around with ideas, we decided the app could do more, a lot more. Here’s what the end version will feature…
Dungeon Architect Card digital deck
World Architect Card digital deck
Overworld Map Generator allows for the creation of procedurally generated maps which can be used for tabletop games. Each tile allows the user to create weather, descriptions, notes, link to other locations, objects, etc.
Overworld Map Editor allows users the ability to generate a blank map and create their own overworld map from scratch.
Dungeon Map Generator allows users to procedurally generate various dungeon maps using 4way and 8way dungeon tiles.
Dungeon Map Editor allows users to the ability to generate blank dungeon maps which can be edited to create custom dungeons.
Traps, Items, and Encounters. These features will be integrated into the app allowing users to create treasure, maps, items, and encounters for their tabletop games.
Our goal for the app was to create a single app that handles the majority of a GMs needs when it comes to creating and running an adventure, either planned or unplanned.
So, if you read all of this and think it sounds interesting, check out our website at www.rpgworldbuilder.com and sign up for email updates. We also have a dev blog over there which we will be updating weekly as we make progress.
